Ruth graduated with a degree in illustration in 1998 from UWE, Bristol. Since then she has worked in many creative fields, from architectural glass through to floristry.
She now concentrates on producing limited edition lino prints and related products that include jewellery, printed tea towels and bags, and cards.
Her current body of work shows imagery including decorative animals and birds, often with a strong use of graphic line and pattern. She is influenced by Scandinavian folk art, 50’s and 60’s design and graphic poster art.
Lino printing combines her background in illustration and drawing with the making/crafting side of her practise – the physicality of carving a new design into a lino block is a huge part of the appeal of this medium for her. She enjoys the ‘hands-on’ nature of the printing process too – burnishing, by hand, with a wooden spoon to carefully bring the image to life!
