Nestled on our farm in North Cornwall, St Eval Candle Company was born from humble beginnings, crafting candles by hand in the family farmhouse kitchen.
Keen to keep traditional crafts alive and with our spirits rooted in all things natural, we draw inspiration from our beautiful surroundings in the Cornish countryside; creating pots, candles and fragrances inspired by nature.
Today, we're celebrating over 29 years of perfecting the art and science of making candles. We use a combination of traditional and contemporary methods so that each candle is made with a personal touch to ensure superior quality in style, fragrance and burn.
Painting has become to me in the last ten years a place to me on my own, my time, my space, my calm and my tonic. I paint to capture ‘stills’ and to find stillness within me. When I paint I quickly fall into a flow state and I allow the paint and the palette knives to do the talking. I work quickly and intuitively often straight from walking and my paintings are a reaction to the day, the place, the weather and how I am feeling. Painting takes me away from the humdrum and brings me joy and happiness. I hope my paintings capture the essence of me too as well as the landscape I frequent here in Cornwall,...
I have lived for the majority of my life in Cornwall, absorbing the beauty and natural connections of life around me. I enjoy working with many mediums in my art, but have a particular fascination and fondness for the mysteries of watercolour. I am drawn to representing that which I see around me, often inspired by the seasons, textures and colours that change so evocatively throughout the year. My emotional response often includes a sense of softness, familiarity and intensity only found from deep immersion with my subject. I enjoy teaching watercolour workshops locally.
